Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya is one of the most popular names associated with Sufism in India. Sufism is love which starts from a master and ends upon the world. Nizamuddin Auliya followed the same path like his predecessors and settled in Delhi. Today his tomb lies in the West Nizamuddin area, earlier known as Ghiyaspur, and is one of the most sacred and celebrated places in the country.
Nizamuddin Dargah is the mausoleum of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya who is counted among the world’s most renowned Sufi saints. It is one among the popular attractions in Delhi and is therefore visited by hundreds of people daily. The walk takes you through the narrow markets surrounding the shrine with beautiful lights and decorations around. Devotees tie up red threads to the lattice screens of the tomb with a belief that their wishes would be granted.

The visit is incomplete without visiting the tomb of Sheikh Nizamuddin’s famous disciple who was also a famous poet- Amir Khusro also within the complex. The shrine compound also has tombs and graves of several other famous personalities like a medieval historian and later Mughal emperors.
